Show School board release gives on coaches resignation The Uintah Board of Education issued the following news release concerning the request of ot resignation by wrestling coach Dennis After a rehearing at the March 1 meeting of oC the Uintah County Board of oC Education the Board at the request of oC Coach Dennis agreed to table final action regarding his resignation request until the next regularly scheduled Board meeting to be held March 15 Because of oC continuing allegations that the resignation was forced and with appreciation ap ape ap- ap predation of oC the emotional climate of oC the concerned citizenry and Inthe best Interest Interest interest In In- terest of the educational programs of Uintah School District the Board feels that it ii r irve that s se V i H be made public at this time The release of oC this information was agreed to by Mr following a March 2 meeting where he was present with Bert Principal of oC Uintah High School and Superintendent Superintendent Wayne Reid neld TilE THE HOARD finds the following circumstances led to Coach resignation 1 Incidents occurred at the high school where the coach did not follow correct procedures and caused substantial inconvenience Inconvenience in In- convenience to the other faculty members and students 2 A series of oC principal- principal teacher conferences were held where deficiencies in his employment employment em em- were pointed out to Mr 3 Coach did not respond to training rule violations by some of oC his wrestlers 4 Mr failed to properly certify two new wrestlers which caused the possibility of oC forfeiture for regional and state tournaments 5 While Principal Gividen was in Provo protesting the actions of another school in the region he became aware of the improper certification of the two wrestlers and called Coach from Provo He advised Mr that he felt that he was in an awkward position to protest the actions of C another school when we were also in violation and that he was going to suspend Mr from Crom his wrestling duties for tor a n few Cew days until this matter could be in In- 6 At that point Mr stated slated that he was going to resign at the end of oC the year anyway but that if he was going to 10 be suspended he was going to resign reign immediately 7 Mr submitted his resignation the following day Under the circumstances Principal Gividen agreed not to suspend him and also requested that the resignation be kept confidential between them This apparently was not interpreted that way All Ml Board members encourage encourage en en- courage and sincerely support our outstanding wrestling program The Board recognizes that the ingredients necessary for this program are the outstanding support of oC parents and fans the feeder programs of the lower grades and the senior high program Itself Mr has been placed on probation by the principal for a number of teaching and coaching reasons The Board hopes that these problems can be successfully resolved and that the outstanding wrestling program at Uintah High School can be continued Board members welcome any further discussion of this matter You should contact the Board member in your area if IC you so desire |
