crazy if I didn't have something to do And so after alter 25 years in the recorders office at the Uintah County Courthouse Eva Peters Hatch will work time part-time for Mountain Land and Title under Fern manager Yes agreed a friend along with playing the piano for anyone and everyone who needs it LOLA ANDERSON county recorder with whom Eva has worked for all of the 25 years commented always been dependable congenial with the public honest as the day is long and pleasant to workaround work around As a deputy you just couldn't ask for a better one Its It's been just the two of 01 us until story about something that's happened in her life liCe County treasurer Frances Southam said she had known Eva as a worker co-worker for 19 years years- 12 years as a deputy Clerk and seven as the coat house Just call caU two fo 0 the recoda's office Alan married Dora Campbell of Roosevelt and says this of her a lovely mother mother-in- law I dont don't know how you'd get geta a better one When I hear people make remarks about theirs I just cant can't imagine a mother-in- mother law being mean I think my kids like their Myrtle better than they do me Myrt or Myrtle was a name Alan and Russ hooked on to to to- their mother when she started working A lady whose name was Myrtle used to pass their house on her way to work at an early morning cafe caCe and really moved off up the sidewalk When Eva began working the boys told her she hopped around the house just like that lady and thus named her Myrtle In fact when our kids were really little they didn't know what grandma meant To them all grandmas were Myrtles and they called my mother Myrtle Campbell because to them everybody h had hada d da a Myrtle not a grandmother Even the neighborhood kids would ask ours Hows your Myrtle today i All j All the kids in the neigh neigh- r boring f including houses ou e nc dj g my rl r own since two SInce we hv lived d right by Eva were always at her house I went over one day and there were two kids making mud pies on the coffee corree table some pounding the piano two in the bathroom cutting each others other's hair and in the midst of oC the bedlam Eva was calmly watching TV Horrified I yelled What is going on onI Myrt why are you letting these kids tear up your house like this She said indignantly Oh Dora let them alone when they get all through Ill I'll clean itEVA'S it wept up EVAS EVA'S BROTHER Jed Peters also lived with the family when he wasn't herding sheep and in later years was welcome there as a permanent member until his death An accomplished pianist who can night laughing and havin the best time Can you imagine a young man wanting to spend a alot alot alot lot of his evenings playing cards with his grandma Myrtle taught her grand grand- granddaughter granddaughter daughter Chris to crochet Chris now makes beautiful afghans In 1969 this gracious lady who proves that age is indeed only a state of mind went with companions Jessie Weeks Mamie Lila Robbins Ravina Caldwell Eva Pope Myrl Eaton and Mabel Chivers on a Tour of the Hawaiian Islands I did so enjoy that We went to church thought it would be Sunday School but it was their conference The ladles ladies presented leis to the visiting authorities and then kissed kissea them on both cheeks as is their custom custon And their choir was out of this world I do believe they're the best singers Ive I've ever heard a great Mom says Moose I know Russ Huss would join me in saying so |
