Show Ruth Goodrich awarded NatI credential in child care A Tridell resident has been awarded a national credential in recognition of her capable work with young children Ruth Goodrich has earned the Child Development Associate credential The credential is awarded by the Child Development Associate Consortium to individuals who successfully demonstrate competence in working with children aged three to five in group setting MRS and her husband Rae are the parents of seven children Toni Ton Dianne James Jerry Randy Gene Kerry and Russell She works as a teacher at the Lapoint I leads tart school in Lapoint A graduate of South High School in Salt Lake City Ruth has taken courses in Early Childhood and Guidance of Children from Utah State University The Consortiums Consortium's Credential Award System is performance Every candidate for the credential is assessed by a team of oC four persons including the candidate candidate can can- and two wo other persons from the local community Team members observe the candidate at work and collect evidence that illustrates the quality of his or her work with children In carrying out the assessment the team must follow Collow regulations established by the Consortium Six kinds of competence are expected of the would would-be CAA who must demonstrate to the asse assessment teams team's satisfaction his or her ability in setting up and maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment for Cor young children j advancing ad their physical and intellectual competence building a positive self concept and individual strength organizing and sustaining sus sus- taming positive functioning of children and adults in a group learning environment bringing about optimal coordination of home and center practices and expectations and carrying out supplementary responsibilities related to the childrens children's programs The fhe Consortium located in Washington D.
