Show pSJTT Rev. Retail II. Harper Jesut, the Great 'leather. LetsoH! Matthew li:24-il, 5M. Golden Text: Matthew i3.-5 . 'TPHERE is almost universal agreement that Jesus is the world's Great Teacher. However men niay differ c&iiceinintj the1 mystery of Christ's Person, there Is little divergence of opinion concerning con-cerning him as the world's Great Teacher. Let us. then, sit Rt his feet and learn his word. The Parable of the Tares shows that there is a real devil at work in the world, doing all he can against God. In fighting him, we must fight not wicked men themselves, them-selves, but the sins they commit, the evil they do. We are encouraged en-couraged by the thought that some day God will put the devil down. Someone has even imagined that the devil himself will bring his crown to Jesus by and by. We should alao be encouraged by the assurance that the kingdom of God is growing in the world, though sometimes slowly, almost imperceptibly. imper-ceptibly. It may be as the leaven, working secretly, unseen. The lesson closes with the sad picture of Jesus being without honor in his own country. It is said that he could do no mighty works there because of the people's unbelief. un-belief. It is a tragic fact that men can frustrate the gracious designs of God for them by their unbelief. But it is a blessed thing that they can bring the messengers of high heaven down to them through their faith. Spiritually things are spiritually spirit-ually discerned and are verified in one's experience. We shall not undertake to prove them by a yardstick or weigh them in the balances. |
