Show ! LOCA L NOTES j Mr. and Mrs. Elmo A. Nelson and family left Wednesday to spend the holidays with their parents, Mrs. Homer P. Edwards and family of Roosevelt and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Nelson of Upalco. A delightful Christmas party was enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Shirl Scroggin Sunday night by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Householder Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Hosmer Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Wally Swenson and Mr. and Mrs. Verio Kendrick. A pot luck dinner din-ner was served and gifts were exchanged. A Christmas centerpiece center-piece decorated the table and there were, Santa Claus favors. Word has been received that George C. Dimas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dimas of Salt Lake City, formerly of Bingham, was graduated December 12 from the U. S. Air Force Officer Candidate Candid-ate School, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, with the rank of second lieutenant. The new lieutenant was a member mem-ber of a graduating class of 500, the largest OCS class in Air Force history. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rager received re-ceived word this week from their j son, Billy, who is stationed in Korea that he has been promot-1 ed from airman second class to i airman first class. A lovely Christmas program was presented at Bingham LDS ward last Sunday night. Christmas Christ-mas poems were given by members mem-bers of the Junior Sunday School Toni Serrano, Ronald Lipsey, Catherine Spanos, Grace Dur-rant, Dur-rant, Kova Stewart and Susan James. A clarinet solo was played play-ed by Clifford Nielsen, accompanied accom-panied by Janice Hocking, and a Christmas story "Keeping Christmas" Christ-mas" was given by Mary Agnes Jacobson. A vocal duet "Silver Bells" was rendered by Elizabeth and Louise Leonard, accompanied accompan-ied by Miss Hocking, and a. piano solo was presented by Ellen Beth Thomas. John W. Anderson, mem ber of the bishopric gave the Christmas talk. Mrs. Gwen Knudsen, Mrs. Le-ota Le-ota Muir, Mrs Eva West and Mrs. Jennie Sluga attended the Salt Lake county library annual Christmas party which was held at the Midvale library last Monday Mon-day night. All 17 branches of the county library system were represented re-presented with all but three members out' of the entire system sys-tem present. For the festive occasion oc-casion the Midvale library was attractively decked with Christmas Christ-mas decorations complete with a beautiful Christmas tree. A delicious de-licious buffet luncheon was served ser-ved at tables arranged star fashion. fash-ion. . Miniature sleigh and 'bell- nut cups were favors. With the singing of "Santa Comes Tonight", To-night", Santa Claus made his appearance ap-pearance and presented each guest with a corsage. Christmas carols were sung, followed by three Christmas plays; "Snowman "Snow-man In July," "The Littlest Angel", An-gel", and "The Little Fir Tree That Was Forgotten". In charge of arranging the delightful party were Lola Johanson, Kay Braun, Fleeta Larson and Miss Kaye. Copperton and half of Bingham Bing-ham were blacked out for nearly two hours last Friday night after af-ter an automobile sheared off an electric light pole. Bingham police po-lice said said the mishap occurred occur-red about 10:10 p.m. near 14 Main street when a car driven by Roy E. Bartell, 28, of Murray, Mur-ray, crashed into the pole. The wooden pole was clipped off at its base. A second electric light pole was hit by another car in the same vicinity a short time later that evening. Christmas day guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wally Swenson were Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Laird and son of Payson and Mr. and . Mrs. Melvin Laird of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hawks and son J. D. of Portage arrived Wednesday Wed-nesday to spend the Christmas holidays with Mrs. Hawks' parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Morris Mor-ris and family. |
