Show THE BULLETIN. BINGHAM CANYON. UTAH WOMAN'S WORLD Careful, Concentrated Effort Solves Most Beauty Problems By Ertta Haley THINK about yourself for a Are you really two wom-en, the woman whom everyone sees, and In your thoughts, the woman you'd like to be? If the answer Is "yes" then you undoubtedly have some special beauty problems which need solving. Perhaps these are simply lack of grooming, that lack of perfection In looking as nice as you'd like. Maybe you don't like to show your hands, or perhaps your legs and feet. Do you smile readily and easily, or do you try to keep the smile down as much as possible? Do you hate cold weather because of what happens to your skin? These and many other problems can be solved easily and quickly if you will but take the effort to get at them. Their solution will certainly make you a more attractive persoa and as such, you'll be happier. If you really want to succeed, your desire to do so will net you more in results than any beauty treatments. Many simple beauty problems do not require much time or effort, rhey do, however, require almost some small dally effort, plus know-ing just what to do. Weed out your problems and start on a concentrated effort to do some-thing about them. Make up your mind that every day you're going to devote the necessary time to whatever needs to be done, until you've completed what you have set out to do. tain that dally fare contains a serving or more of citrus fruit, a pint or more of milk, an egg, meat, fresh fruits, vegetables and water. Brushing the teeth after eating any food is the latest word on keep-ing teeth attractive as well as an aid in preventing damage by caries. At home this is easy, but at a place of work it might be well to keep a tooth brush and dentifrice handy. If it's not possible to brush the teeth after eating, at least rinse the mouth as thoroughly as , possible with water so many impurities can ' be dislodged after eating. It's a small habit to form but it pays big dividends in dental health. . Should the teeth stain easily and frequently, longer periods of brush-ing will aid considerably in keeping them clean. Professional cleaning may be essential more frequently for the bad stains. Keep your lipstick on, with a view to improving your looks by smart application. Thick lips can be made to appear thinner by keeping the lipstick toward the center of the lips and blending outward; thin lips should have bright lipstick and this should be applied to the entire lip surface. A wide mouth calls for color to the center of the lips. Straight up-per lips are made more attractive if you sketch in a slightly rounded contour and fill in by brushing with lipstick. Thick upper lips will look less so if you apply the lipstick more gen-erously to the upper lips and light-ly to the lower. Use a color suitable to you for lipstick and keep the natural out-line of the mouth as much as possi-ble. If you show a tendency to puck-er or pout or have the corners droop downward on your mouth, you can remedy these by improving your disposition rather ' than the make-up- ! Well-Ke- pt Bands Need Constant Care Cold weather as well as the con-stant use of water on hands form a hazard in the hand life of almost any busy woman, but hands can still be delightful with a little thoughtful care. Keep lotions or creams at the centers where you have your ha ,1s in water, kitchen sink, bathroom and laundry. Then make it a re-ligious habit to use these prepara-tions after the hands have been in Criatt ntw loveliness for yourself . . Decide that no matter how busy some days will be, you'll find time somehow to follow the program planned. You can be carefree about It, but don't be careless. Once you have two or three days already ac-complished, It's easier to go the rest of the way. Grooming Depends On Good Cleanliness No one can afford to ignore a complete cleansing as part of a good grooming program. There is no substitute for good soap and water cleaning, for no amount of de-odorant or perfume gives you what thorough cleaning does, a clean, vibrant, glowing skin. Thorough cleaning doesn't mean that you have to scrub within an Inch of your life. Skin' is very ten-der whether you're fifteen, thirty or fifty. Gentle cleansing will give the best results. Avoid the hasty cleansings, too, for these don't get you clean every-where. Let soap and water get into the pores and loosen all dust, dirt and grime and you'll do a great deal toward avoiding really serious conditions like clogged pores that result in blackheads and whiteheads. If you tend to skip on cleansing, arm yourself with some of the nice-ties like a good soap, luxurious tow-els, and even some nice brushes and a dash of perfume or salts for bathing water. These will make the Job pleasant and encourage you to take time with the bath or shower. Any areas of the skin which show a tendency to be trouble spots, such as clogged pores around the nose and mouth, need deep, gentle cleans-ing. Be persistent! Careful cleans-ing habits formed now can avoid many troubles later on. water. You can learn to give yourself a professional manicure at home with all the aids available if you don't have the time for professional at-tention. It isn't difficult either, as you'll soon find after a few sessions. You may be so delighted, as many women are, that they wouldn't think of doing without this home manicure. Cuticle creams and oils have elim-inated the necessity of cutting the cuticle. File the nails into an oval shape with file or emery board, avoiding filing too close at the sides so that you don't develop sensitive corners. Wear nails short if you work or if they're brittle and break easily. After filing, soak the hands in warm soapsuds and use a cuticle softener. Push it back gently, but do not cut For discolored nails, apply a bleaching solution with cotton wrapped around an orange stick. When hands are washed again, ap-ply polish or not as desired. For short nails, cover the entire surface, removing only a hairline at the Up. Feet should be well groomed, too, and they'll be more comfortable. Wash them thoroughly in warm, sudsy water, then dry thoroughly. File the toenails straight with an emery board, never shaping the I corners as this may cause ingrown toenails. Use a cuticle softener with cotton and orange stick, and clean under the nails as well. . j with simple but persistent care. Plan to use a deodorant soap for the bath or shower, or a deodorant afterwards. Should the skin tend to be somewhat dry because of weath-er then use lotion from tip to toe. Dusting powder is a nicety and lux-ury, and its use is up to the in-dividual, as are colognes and per-fumes. Bright Smiles Assure Cheerful Outlook A ready, spontaneous smile is con-tagious. It makes those about you as well as yourself feel better and more cheerful about everything In general. Nice smiles depend a great deal on hygiene as well as diet, and you can see to this in the wise selec-tion of foods you eat, without taking any extra time at all. Mashed potatoes should be as light and fluffy as it's possible to make them. Older potatoes should be boiled in water to which some milk and lemon juice is added to prevent darkening. Use hot milk in which butter is melted to make them fluffy. ISHOPPER'S CORNER By DOROTHY BARCLAY SUDDENLY LENT pHE Lenten season catching you Suddenly out of the depths of winter comes that usher-ing-i- n season bringing spring in Its wake. No Ideas for those meatless meals that even plan for during Lent? Be of good cheer, lady, for fish, eggs, and all those nutrition-lade- n dairy products are plentiful and reasonable. That king of all fish, Whftefish, is flooding your market right now, all the way from Can- - " ada, and at half the price you've been iJlAlU, paying for your n tive Lake Superior STKtti type. How about t FEATURE 11181 roval Planked I ' I Whltefish which has brought fame to many a restaurant, honor to many a home-make- r, and joy to your fam-ily? Haddock, too, the crown prince of the fish kingdom, is available in increasing supply. This fish lends itself to all manner of tasty and nu-tritious variations. The most popu-lar of all treatments is stuffed and baked, of course. But if you have bone trouble, why not remove the bones, and bake the fillets like pies, with a double crust of your favorite bread or cracker crumb dressing? Put it together, and what have you got? The tastiest slices of pie your oven has turned out in weeks. And to curry favor with your fam-ily, curry the flavor. Haddock's delicate taste combines Ideally with that exotic taste from the Indies, curry powder. Oysters, too, are plentiful these cold waiting-for-sprln- g days. Have them in a nourishing stew for a satisfying, one-dis- h supper. Or bake them, scalloped, for stretching them farther. If you really want to make a hit bake individual casseroles for each member of the family, and make like a party. Some of your stores even have seashells for such purposes very attractive, and very special. tt Kl A EGGS APLENTY As for that other Lenten stand-by- , eggs the Department of Agricul-ture avows that egg production is up 5 per cent over a year ago, and egg prices probably the lowest right now that they'll be in all of 1952. So rejoice, homemaker, for not only are these early eggs cheap, but they're y. Grade A eggs are especially abundant during the Lenten season, and are a bargain because there's such a minute dif-ference between A's and B's, in value and in price. While the two grades are equally nutritious, Grade A eggs show a large proportion of thick white, which stands up well around a firm, high yolk. These eggs are es-pecially suited to poaching, frying, cooking in the shell, and for oven-bake- d dishes. And while eggs are so plentiful, why not look ahead to the time when they won't be, and tuck some in your freezer for later use? You can freeze 'em whole, or separated whites and yolks, depending on your future plans for them. Label them, whole or which separate, and re-member that the yolks or the whole eggs should be used within six months, but the whites will last a year. asMsMaawaaswMawasasasan.M Sundress and Jacket In Sizes 34 to 48 liMMrVlriW&T! 3448 H TJERE is a beautifully fitting sundress and jacket combina-tion designed to flatter a woman's figure.
