Roberta received many lovely gifts. o Extensively Entertained Several prenuptial parties have been given during the past week in honor of Miss Roberta John-sto- n, February ... bride elect. Among which was a nicely-appoint-seven, o'clock dinner party given by Mrs. Boyd J. Nerdin Thursday evening, Feb-ruary 7. A centerpiece consist-ing of a miniature bride and groom and white wedding bell enlaced with pink satin sachet hearts graced the table as did rose petal heart-shape- d bridal confetti artistically scattered the table. Individual cor-sages of artificial flowers were favors. Besides the honoree and hostess, those present were Mrs. Eugene Morris, Mrs. A. D. Chris-tense- n, Mrs. Earl T. James, Mrs. S. W. Jacques, Mrs. Joseph P. Scussel, Mrs. Tom Carrigan, Mrs. James Carrigan, Mrs. Dale John-ston and Miss ReNee Johnston. The group presented the honoree with a lovely gift. Prizes at bridge were awarded to Mrs. James, Mrs. J. Carrigan and Mrs. Scussel. Bingo prizes were won by Mrs. Morris and ReNee. ReNee also assisted the hostess with serving. Mrs. Harold Chesler entertain-ed Tuesday evening at her home at a lovely handkerchief shower for Miss Johnston. Those pres-ent besides the honored guest and hostess were Mrs. Albert Kastelic, Mrs. V. S. Barlow, Mrs. Tom Carrigan, Mrs. Dale John-ston, Mrs. John Nilsson, Mrs. James Carrigan and Miss ReNee Johnston. The table setting in-cluded a beautiful centerpiece consisting of a bride doll center-ed on a Valentine heart from which ribbons extended to a lovely gift surprise which were placed for each guest. Each guest was also presented a dainty Val-entine corsage on her arrival. Tripoli was played and a delic-ious late luncheon was served. On Sunday afternoon, Febru-ary 10, a clever red and white kitchen shower was given for Miss Johnston at the Wayne Hansen home in Copperton by Janice Gillman assisted by Le-on- a Hansen and Joyce Crump. Bingo bridge was played and several prizes were given. Table appointments followed a Valen-tine theme and favors were min-iature brides. Besides the hon-oree and hostesses mentioned above those present were Joyce Dumont, Jerry Pino, Jeri Pol-lock, Margaret and Ruth Mc- - 'Mr. and Mrs. Hosmer Peterson and boys were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Verio Kendrick and child-ren last Wednesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Ross M. Cushing spent Sunday at Santaquln as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Olson. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Goff were Mr. and Mrs. Kim Goff and family of Midvale and Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Fermell of Copperton. o LOCALNOTES Mrs. Donald G. Reid, Mrs. Jo-seph Timothy and Mrs. S. W. Jacques attended a meeting call-ed by the general Relief Society board in Salt Lake City Monday. Afterwards they visited LDS and St. Mark's hospitals. The Pinochle club met Tues-day night with Mrs. George Dahlstrom of Copperton as their hostess. Mrs. Walt Granquist was a guest. Table appointments, fa-vors and refreshments followed a dainty Valentine motif. Win-ning prizes were Mrs. John Adamek, first; Mrs. R. L. Cun-liff- e, second; Mrs. R. G. Steele, consolation; Mrs. Tory Tobiason and Mrs. Frank Zaccaria, travel-ing and Mrs. W. A. Fike, house. Tasty refreshments were served to ten. McCarthy Speeches of both well known political figures are expected to be broadcast. State party leaders are being invited to attend the luncheon Saturday at noon at which Senator Monroney will discuss 'Democratic issues and the Sunday luncheon at 1 p.m. at which Senator McCarthy will outline Republican trends. Registration for the convention opens Friday evening. Saturday at 9 a.m. activities begin with an advertising clinic. Following the noon luncheon, the manager, sec-retary and president will give reports at a meeting beginning at 2 p.m. and annual election of officers will be conducted. At 4 p.m. the group will visit Utah Power & Light company's new $23,550,000 Gadsby steam-electri- c plant. At 7 p.m. the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce will en-tertain and at 8 p.m. the annual banquet will be held. Speaker will be J. Roger Deas of San Valentine Party ;No. 1 Firemen's auxiliary en-tertained the No. 2 Firemen's auxiliary at a delightful Valen-tine party on Monday night at No. 1 Fire hall. A delicious din-ner was served after which bridge was played. Table ap-pointments followed a Valentine motif. Prizes were won by Mrs. Hosmer Peterson, first; Mrs. James McLeod, second, and. Mrs. Boyd J. Nerd in, house. Hostesses were .Mrs. Harold Chesler, Mrs. Jack Householder Sr., Mrs. Reed Kelly and Mrs. Verio Kendrick. Thirty-on- e were in attendance.
