Editor Leader-On Saturday evening, Dec. 13th, the annual meeting and election of [Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association] of this ward took place, and a very good time was enjoyed. Present were Elder James A. Leishman, representative from the central board of the Stake; Bishop O. After the ordinary opening exercises the president gave a brief history of the organization, showing that it had existed for four years, and the changes of its officers. He also gave a full report of the past year's labors, which made a good showing. Elder James A. Leishman spoke on the object of these organization; and showed the good results of them, and encouraged the young to press onward in the great destiny of the youth of Zion, and depart from the evil ways and downward road of fallen mankind. Bishop ??quist, the president, and a few of the members also made some remarks. The election placed the following officers on the platform for the next year: I. C. Thompsen, president, ?? Halvorsen and H. W. Maun, councilors; Jos. [Joseph] S. Allen, treasurer; and C. Orell, secretary. This was a complete re-election of last year's officers. The exercises included some excellent songs and music; of the latter the violin solo, "Home, Sweet Home Variations," by A. Savage, was really sweet. Yours truly, I. C. ??, President. C. Orell, Secretary. Hyrum, Dec. 13th, 1879. |
