Show A SIMPLE CURE. An aged and highly respected gentleman of this city recently related to us his experience in curing himself of costiveness with which he had been troubled for about forty years. During that time he did not recollect going as long as a month without using pills or other cathartic medicines, and his custom had been for very many years to take a pills as often at least as once a week. Recently, however, the one of such means of assisting nature began to prove painful and ineffectual and was followed by various distressing symptoms which compelled the patient to keep his room, and his condition began to appear really critical, as at his advance age, it seemed almost hopeless for him to survive the attempt to discontinue medicines which he had used so long and which at length had become ineffectual and unbearable. In a very low state of health and under these circumstances he was led to adopt a remedy which has in the short space of three weeks, entirely cured him of costiveness, and infused new life and vigor in him, until he can now do a good days work. He commenced by observing the Word of Wisdom strictly, and drank several times during the day, a little lemon juice, reduced with water and sweetened with sugar. This benefited him, and he commenced to eating the lemons. He would eat a lemon before each meal, and the simple remedy has wrought a complete cure which is really wonderful when his advanced age and the long standing of the disease - about forty years - is considered. Costiveness had brought on the piles and was also attended by a derangement of the liver, and these diseases have also been cured by the lemon treatment. The high standing of the gentleman in the confidence of all who know him places his statements beyond cavil or question, and we earnestly recommend the lemon remedy to such as may be afflicted with chronic costiveness. |
