Show Last Saturday police officer Pringle arrested two boys named respectively Cyrus Smith and Charles Beverland, both aged 14, on a charge of stealing. They were taken before Justice Cranney and the evidence showed they had stolen on the previous Thursday a calf skin from Thatcher & Newberry and sold it at the Temple Meat Market and on the day of their arrest they stole two sheepskins which they sold to a Mr. Smith. They were each fined $5 and sentenced to five days imprisonment. The boys it would seem are pretty well advanced on the wrong road considering their age, but we hope the fine and imprisonment will have the effect of changing their course. |
