Show Queen of the West.

Fair Queen of the West, thou must not complain, If thou art refused a voice in this nation; Belial the prince now in power doth reign, His vengeance on thee admits no cessation. Thou must not expect to have Justice below. If thou wouldst retain they faith and thy beauty; Be just and polite to thy great ancient foe; To prove thee on earth has long been his duty.

True prophets of light, no nation received them; As strangers they roamed through this weary world; They taught supreme laws, but few have believed them; They to dungeons And bonds with vengeance were hurled. But still they retained supreme faith in their King, And placed not their hopes in wealth or in number; In bonds they would smile, and like seraphs would sing, Till they were consigned to death's peaceful slumber.

Fair Queen of the West, be a friend unto all, A shield of defense to all they oppressors; Oh raise them to light when in darkness they fall; Be goddess of love to sinking transgressors. The great King of Day, on the mountain has taught, That love is the light of God's laws eternal; By His purest blood he has willingly bought, The prisoners condemned, in dark realms eternal. J. McCARTHY. SMITHFIELD, Jan. 27, 1881. |
