Show Work on the Temple.

An impression was conveyed, recently, by an article in the Salt Lake Herald, that the reason why work on the roof of the Temple was suspended, was because of a lack of suitable lumber. This is incorrect; there has been plenty of lumber and other material on hand, if we except one or two short intervals at an early stage of the work, ever since the building was commenced, to keep busily employed all the hands for the payment of whom funds have been provided. The early setting in of winter, and not a lack of material, put a stop to the work on the roof till spring. There is plenty of lumber on hand now, and as soon as the elements will permit, work on the sacred edifice will be pushed with vigor.

Meanwhile a large number of carpenters are employed in making door and window frames, &c., for the inside of the building, so that work on the structure has by no means been suspended during the cold weather. More carpenters who can do panel work, are wanted if they wish to work on tithing or donation. |
