WHEN we go to meeting on Sunday in the Tabernacle, and find the choir absent, we are better able to appreciate their labors than if they were always with us. IN this issue we complete the list of premiums to be awarded at the couting [county] fair. We have given the necessary space for the publication of this list from an earnest desire to do all we could to insure the success of the fair. THE Co op. took stock on Monday and Tuesday last, and during those two days it was closed. The institution is receiving large quantities of goods daily in anticipation of a rushing fall trade, for which every preparation is being made. ZION'S Board of Trade have leased for a term of ten years a portion of the Tithing Office lot fronting west, and have commenced the erection upon it if a fine two story building, 35x75 feet, which when completed will cost about $2,000. In evidence of this we refer the public to the handsome sign he has lately painted for Mr. Merrill, agent of the Singer Sewing Machine, which now adorns the front of the building in which that gentleman holds forth. J. T. HAMMOND. IN our last issue we stated that the firemen of Salt Lake would have from four to six days on their excursion. MINE host of the Cache Valley House, has recently purchased an excellent and elegant eight spring wagon, three seated and fitted with a cover that can be closed in such a manner as to perfectly protect passengers in stormy weather. He will now convey his guests to and from the depot, where his team can always be found on the arrival of trains. On Sunday last a delightful time was had at the jubilee practice at Smithfield. The Logan choir were present, the children turned out in large numbers, and great interest was manifested. On Sunday nest, a jubilee practice will be held at Franklin, and the children of Lewiston, Mt. Refuge and Worm Creek, will be in attendance. A full turnout is desired. NOTICE is hereby given to the superintendents, choir leaders, and singers of the Sundry who be of this Stake, that a meeting for the purpose of preparing for the coming Jubilee, will be held until further notice on the last Saturday of each month in the Logan Tabernacle, commencing at 11o'clock a.m. It is earnestly desired that all who have an interest in the matter will be present. IN order to close out my stock of photograph albums for the purpose of getting an entirely new stock for the fall trade, I offer during the month of September only, my entire stock of photograph albums at 15 per cent. From regular price. As my stock of albums is the largest kept in the county and my prices low, this is a rare bargain. J. T. HAMMOND, Bookseller and Stationer. A VERY pleasant party was given at the Cache Valley House on Monday evening last. The company were select, and were present by invitation, and comprised quite a number of the members of the Tabernacle choir. About forty guests were present, and after dancing till after eleven o'clock, all partook of an excellent lunch in the dining room. The genial host of the hotel, Paul Cardon, Esq., did his utmost to enhance the enjoyment of the guests. Mr. Henry Lamoreaux was the moving spirit in the affair. |
