Show OUR GREETING. With this issue the LEADER passes into the possession of the Cummings Brothers, late of Salt Lake, they having purchased of the Junction Printing Association, the paper, with the printing office, business and material pertaining to it. The new firm consists of Messrs. B. F. Cummings Jr. and Horace Cummings, sons of Col. B. F. Cummings Senr., formerly of Ogden and Willard, but a resident of Salt Lake City during recent years. The first named has recently performed two missions, of two years each to the New England and Middle States. He returned from his second mission in June last. By his correspondence to the Deseret News during his absence, his former connection with that paper as a traveling agent, and his contributions to other home publications, he has become somewhat widely known. He will have the editorial and business management of the LEADER. Mr. Horace Cummings has lately graduated at the Deseret University, Salt Lake City, and will become one of the faculty of the Brigham Young College at Logan on the opening of the fall term in October next. In respect to the future tone and policy of the LEADER, it seems proper here to give a brief forcast [forecast]. It will be the earnest endeavor to impart to it a tone and character that will make it an acknowledged representative of the people of this county and of the Latter-day Saints of this Stake of Zion. On all questions that relate to the rights and interests of the people, it will, so far as its sphere extends, speak earnestly in their advocacy and defense, and, while not distinctively a religious journal, it is expected that the LEADER will present to its readers, from time to time, such suggestions and instructions upon religious subjects, as the proper authorities may deem necessary or desirable. In short the LEADER will ever be in the most cordial sympathy with the religion, rights and interests of the people who have made this region what it is today, and will always be found willing and ready to do all in its power to forward or defend the same. It will also be the aim to give, in the columns of the LEADER, a complete record of the news and events of Cache [and neighboring?] counties, and of the general news of the Territory, [as well as?] brief summaries of events transpiring throughout the world. Its editorials will treat upon such subjects as will most deeply interest its readers, and will advocate such measures, reforms and improvements as will be of the greatest benefit to the county. By identifying the sentiments and interests of their paper with those of the people of this region, its proprietors hope to win a generous support, and while visions of a daily paper cross, occasionally, the vista of their future, they can, at present, only promise to do their utmost to make their weekly paper worthy of liberal patronage. With thanks for the kind words spoken, and encouragement already extended, we can only pledge ourselves to do our utmost to make of the LEADER a paper that shall be well worthy the patronage and support of the people of Cache and adjoining counties.
