Show CHANGE IN Z.C.M.I. One of the first events of Mr. Farr's administration as Manager of Z.C.M.I. is a somewhat important change that has been made in the relations between the wholesale and retail departments of the institution. Hereafter, these departments will be entirely separate. The retail department will be charged with all goods furnished by the wholesale department, and the books will be kept in such a manner as to show exactly the profits and status of each. Heretofore it has not been known what proportion, if any, of the profits of the institution were derived from its retail trade, but this will now be shown. The new order of things makes it incumbent upon the clerks in the retail department to be courteous and polite to customers and to use their utmost endeavors to attract custom [customers], for if the event shall show that the retail department is not paying salaries and expenses, it will doubtless be abolished and the clerks will be thrown out of employment. |
