Show A MANAGER of German sausage in London, was recently taken up before the officials of that place, and charged with having on his premises a quantity of horseflesh for the purpose of preparation for sale, and intended for the food of man, such horseflesh being bad, unwholesome, and unfit for human food. It appears that the horse, the flesh of which was intended for the use of man, had died from some disease, and the manufacturer had it all chopped up fine to make into German sausage to be sold for food. When the man was asked by the Judge, what he had to say for his defence [defense], he cooly replied, that he thought the flesh was as "good and as wholesome as any cow beef." |
