Show CORRESPONDENCE Have the kindness to give mo room for a little item in the Union. In the Deseret News of April 30th 1890. I notice the following: "At Spanish Fork, Utah, a conclave con-clave of Presbyterian ministers, issued a manifesto excommunicating excommunicat-ing the Latter-day Saints from the fellowship of Christians". In behalf be-half of myself and a few other such oddities, I would sny to these very lieverend Ministers, gentlemen, thank yon, extremely. Much obliged ii ye for the much esteemed courtesy you have forced upon us. Now the old adage has it that "there is no loss without a small gain" and as these pious chaps have unchristianized us, this places us in a very uneviable position posi-tion placing an embargo on our ever reaching their Sectarian heaven beyond the bounds of time and space. Now it is a pocr rule that won't work both ways. Thus if we are not worthy, in their estimation, esti-mation, of going to iheir heaven, of course we are not worthy of going go-ing to their hell; hence our unfeigned unfeign-ed gratitude, oftiraes it is very distressing to part with friends, but in their case, in the long and never ending journey "Beyond the bounds of time and space," we cordially say Bon voyage. But as for me, I do seriously object to such an extended trip where there is no space nor even a stem-winding waterbury, or prize ring gong to call time! C. L. W. St. George, May 11, 189G. |
