Show LOOK 0UT F0vR LUMPS ON JAWS OF CATTLE Disease May Be Successfully Treated if Taken While in Its Incipient Stage. (By . II. S. EAKINS, Colorado Agrrlcul-. Agrrlcul-. tural College, Fort Collins.) The loss occurring from the condemnation con-demnation of the heads of beef animals ani-mals because of "big jaw" or what is perhaps more commonly known as "lumpy jaw" is surprisingly large. Treatment of this disease is very successful suc-cessful If taken during the incipient stages, and even when the disease Is well advanced it is controlled by veterinary vet-erinary skill in many cases. There Is some question concerning the direct transmission of this disease from one animal to another but there Is no questions ques-tions about the folly of taking a chance on any loathsome disease among animals ani-mals on the farm. Any nodule or abscess ab-scess formation about the jaws or necks of cattle should be looked upon with suspicion and attended to at once. |
