A pathetic feature of the verdict ver-dict is the previously rendered verdict of physicians of St. Anthony's An-thony's hospital that the young Indian can live but a short while his lungs and glands being seriously se-riously affected with tuberculosis. tuberculo-sis. Cost of Prosecution Thet rial of Tse-Ne-Gat, which lasted ten days and cost the federal fed-eral government approximately $15,000, was the culmination of a series of events which inc Killed Kill-ed an Indian uprising in the hilb and canyons of southeastern; Utah when that region last Feb- j (ruary was swept by below zero, temperatureand clad in a mantle of deep snow. Society- Women in Court The announcement of the ver-) diet, was followed' by a quickly . repressed outburst of approval from a picturesque array of spec-1 Jtators. Society women in dainty . ;apparel sat with beaded and bespangled be-spangled Indian and Mexicans,1 '.tribesmen' and neighbors of Tse-1 Ne-Gat in the arid regions' throughout the trial. The evidence against Tse-Ne-Gat presented by the government ! was purely circumstantial and, furnished largely by fellow tribesmen, three . of whom declared de-clared they saw the defendant dragging the body of the murdered mur-dered herder at the end of a lariat la-riat and later saw him throw it: into an arroyo. Previously they i declared they' heard three shots fired. Conflicting statements, however, were brought out by l counsel for Tse-Ne-Gat. The defendant testifyng in his t own behalf, protested innocence ,and said to the jury : "I did not kill the Mexican ; I could not kill my friend." Odekirk & Co. has it. (Adv) A number of taxpapers from other parts of the county have asked the Record Rec-ord that in the event the proposed county coun-ty bond issue of $30,000 is favorably voted upon, on what roads will the money mon-ey be expended ? In answer, the following resolution which was introduced by Commissioner . Lindsay and unanimously adopted, is herewith reproduced : ' Resolved, that we, the county commissioners of Duchesne coun-'. coun-'. ty, do hereby declare that we shall divide the moneys received for road purposes through the proposed bond issue, according to tax valuation in each and every precinct, and said moneys shall be expended on county coun-ty roads throughout said precincts on roads tributary to the present state roads in said Duchesne coun ty. BIG BASEBALL TOURNAMENT As will be noticed in the display announcement an-nouncement elsewhere in this impression, impres-sion, the baseball tournament planned for the 23d and 24th at Duchesne will be the most interesting ball tournament that has ever taken place in the west part of the basin. The winning team will take down a purse of $35.00 while members of the two losing teams will each have two meals paid for each day of the celebration. The teams engaged will be Fruitland, the upper Duchesne, the Boneta country and Duchesne. None of the teams have had a great deal of practice, most of them none at all and while the scores are apt to be large the excitement leadingjup to the taking down of the prize money will be in proportion.
