Show Our Voice Reaches Washington Congressman Col ton Presents retitioa Of Basin to Commerce Board The Uintah Basin petition for a railroad rail-road was presented to the Interstate Commerce Commission by "Congressman Colton, accompanied by a strong plea by Mr. Colton for consideration of the T'intah Basin needs. He asked the commission com-mission to grant the petition of the people of the Uintah Basin to appear before them when they come to consider con-sider the application of the Denver & Rio Grand Western Railroad company com-pany for authority to buy additional stock in the Moffat road, sufficient to give It control. Mir. Colton Informed the commission that the Uintah Basin feels this is the time when it must strike for a railroad. Ab the situation was explained by Mr. Colton to the commission, if it grants authority sought by D. & R. G. W. to couple with it the requirement that the railroad company phall extend ex-tend the Moffat road westward from Craig through the Uintah Basin to Salt liake City, or build a line into the Easin from Sprlngville to Duchesne, My ton. and Vernal. That while the Uintah Basin people would" much prefer pre-fer the through line they would be content with the second proposition, If the longer line could not be built. |
