Show ENFORCEMENT FUND INCREASE is' STOPPED BY HOOVER ECONOY President Hoover's desire to keep .government appropriations for the coming fiscal year within the amount now being spent has caused the budget bud-get bureau to veto a requested increase in. prohibition enforcement funds. . Instead of an estimated 50 million 'dollars which the ' governmental agencies concerned In prohibition enforcement en-forcement planned to obtain for next year, the budget bureau has pruned the appropriations to approximately 40 million dollars. This is virtually the amount approprated for this fiscal, year. Funds for prohibition enforcement In the fiscal year 1931, which begins June 30. 1930. are to be divided between be-tween the treasury and justice departments de-partments on . a three-to-one ratio. The total allowed is being apportioned ap-portioned as follows: Prohibition bureau, bu-reau, 19 million dollars; coast guard. 14 million dollars; customs, one and a half million dollars; justice 10 million mil-lion dollars. |
