Show BAND CONCERT FESTIVAL FESTI-VAL TO BE HELD FRIDAY DUCHESNE - Facilities in the newly-constructed Duchesne Elementary School and Duchesne High School gymnasium will prove their worth Friday, April , 1, when Uintah Basin schools will compete in Duchesne in the Region Six Band Concert Festival. E. Allan Bates, director of music in the Duchesne schools, announces that 500 students will participate in activities which begin at 10 a, m. , Friday and will end with a band concert at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited in-vited to the band concert, but the other contests will be opened to a few special guests. The band concert will be held in the high school gymnasium, gymna-sium, and they will be rated during this two-hour period. Over 300 students are expected to play in the bands from Uintah, Union, Duchesne, Ashley Valley; Junior High West Junior High and Roosevelt Junior High. Almost 200 individual entries en-tries are on the entry list for solo and ensemble activities which include schools from Vernal, Ver-nal, Roosevelt and Duchesne. Each individual entry will be judged separ ately on his or her skill and will not be competitive compe-titive with the other entries in any category. Performers will be given fair, good, very good, excellent excel-lent and superior ratings, accordf ing to merit as judged by Pul C. Pollei, Mrs. Helen Richards and David Dalton |
