Show BASIN PIONEER IS LAID TO REST John Hyrum Holgate 79 of Arcadia one of the earliest Uintah Uintah Uintah Uin Uin- tah Basin pioneers succumbed Sunday to a heart ailment of four years year's duration He was born at Oldham Lancashire Lancashire Lancashire Lan Lan- England March 1 1856 and came to America in September Septem Septem- ber 1864 with his father brothers and sisters his mother having died the day before their sailing salling The family settled in Beaver and he lived there until 1894 He was married In 1893 to Mrs Etta Hale Dale Judd and moved to the Reservation Reservation Reservation Reserva Reserva- tion to settle in Vernal where they Uley lived for 12 years They moved moved moved ed to Midvale and later to Arcadia Ar Ar- cadia Mr Holgate operated the first mall mail route from Duchsne to My My- ton He was an active church member and did a great deal of Temple work in his later years He Is survived by his widow Hale Holgate three sons Frank L L. A. A Hale and W. W Vernon Vernon Vernon Ver- Ver non one daughter Mrs Vera Larsen of or Arcadia a step-son step Thomas Judd of Salt Lake City four tour children by a former marriage marriage marriage mar mar- John Benjamin B B. B Joseph Holgate and Mrs Nellie Pope o of Turlock California 25 grand children children children chil chil- dren and 5 great grand children Funeral services were held Tuesday at noon in the Arcadia Ward Yard Chapel with Bishop Thos M M.
