Show M Here comes again the dreary old story of "coal shortage" for the coming winter. This is becoming an annual cry of wue. Translated it means : "A ton in the shed is worth five in the hills. Come, all ye poor people who work for your miserable dollar and half a day, and load your palatial residences from garret to roof with the precious black stones. Put in fifty or one hundred tons now to provide against the cold weather, so it will not affect the ones you love. Now is the accepted time to invest your wealth in this commodity, dear to health, necessary to comfort. Remember, coal is not a luxury, but a necessity. When winter comes and you need it, there will be none. Tnvest a couple of hundred or so now. You will lose only the four per cent that the bank is giving you, but think how you will help the 1 twenty-million-dollar trusts. Invest early and avoid the rush." In other words, the poor people who need coal may have the privilege, in the winter, of seeing all the coal cars loaded with grain, cattle and sugar beets, and in the summer time the cattle cars loaded ,with coal. |
