April 20, 2011 rrffijr Police Department Offers Red Tag Day l pHArpcoEsATu,CAL ONLY The Pleasant Grove Police Department has announced that April 30, 201 1 will be Red Tag Day in the city. On this day residents are encouraged to bring in any old or unneeded medicines and drop them in a container which will be provided. No questions will be asked, according to Po-lice Chief Tom Paul. Citizens are urged to get rid of their unused or out-date- d medicines in this manner so that they are not found and ingested by those who should not use them. Actually, the bin is avail-able at all times in the Police Station for the use of citizens desiring to get rid of unwanted or expired medicines. This also protects children from taking medicines they find around the house and ingesting them. If parents desire to dis-pose of the unused or outdated medicines in the garbage cans at home, you should first take the pills out of their original container and mix with some-thing gross such as cat litter, Residents are encouraged to bring in any old or unneeded medicines and drop them in a container which will be provided. Pleasant Grove Fishing Pond to Open April 27 After Year Long Delay Pleasant Grove Parks and Recreation Director Deon Giles has announced that fishing will be al-lowed in the pond in the Manila Creek Park begin-ning on April 27, 2011. A Utah fishing license is re-quired to fish in the pond. A fishing club has been formed for young anglers and the enroll-ment for this is already at capacity. However, those desiring to join the club can have their name added to a waiting list. Although the open-ing of the pond will be on April 27, the official grand opening will be held in May. The De-partment of Fish and Game has stocked the pond with fish, accord-ing to Director Giles. PG City Council Work Session Explores Upcoming Items Pleasant Grove City Attor-ney Tina Petersen told the city council that a proposal from Lindon City offering to sell their contained water stock for water in the Murdock Canal had been received. She said that when the ca-nal is piped more water will be available. Lindon City is offer-ing to let Pleasant Grove buy its water stock as they do not need it. The council felt that the asking price was too high and the city does not need the water right now. Of special interest was a discussion concerning the orig-inal Pleasant Grove Fort site in connection with the plans for the new Civic Center project in the downtown area. It was an-nounced by Mayor Bruce Call that the city plans to continue to maintain the boundaries of the old fort as they are now. They also have ideas for incor-porating it more into the city's downtown plans. They would like to take one of the original lots in the fort and preserve that. It was also noted that the city has already acquired property near 100 East Center which will be used in connec-tion with the Civic Center plans for the downtown area. An officer made contact with the complainant regarding a ladder being taken from his resi-dence. The officer gathered the information available and filed this report. On April 10 an individual re-ported a theft of a GPS unit from his motor vehicle. On April 11a person called to report her wallet stolen from her vehicle and several charges were made to her debit card. An officer was dispatched to contact an individual regarding a vehicle burglary. A report was taken. There is no suspect infor-mation. No further action was taken. On April 12 an individual re-ported a theft by deception case. On April 13 an officer was dispatched to a residential bur-glary where the complainant was unsure if the suspect made en-try. Photos were taken of the pry marks on the door. There is no suspect information at this time. This case will be referred to de-tectives for further investigation. An officer responded on a burglary and found that a lock on a shed had been cut and a few items of little value were taken. There is no suspect information at this time. An officer responded to reports of a medical emergency. Upon ar-rival the patient appeared to be under the influence of drugs. The patient was transported to a local hospital for care. Upon investigating the scene, a small item of paraphernalia was dis-covered in plain view. Contact was attempted with the male regarding the paraphernalia but was unsuc-cessful. This case will be referred to the prosecutor for review. No further action was taken. On April 7 officers respond-ed to the American Fork Hospital and took a report of an assault that was perpetrated on the juvenile victim by the juvenile suspect. Officers spoke with two witness-es, both of the juveniles' fathers. The victim and his father request-ed that no criminal charges be filed and a written statement was obtained from them indicating that. Information was obtained for this report and no further ac-tion was taken. On April 8 officers took a re-port of a theft of a generator from a home. The victim had possible suspect information. This case is being referred to detectives for further investigation. An officer made contact with the complainant regarding her tire being damaged sometime during the night. The officer gathered possible suspect information and filed this report. The officer later found there was another victim and added the information to this report. Police were dispatched to an individual at a local business that appeared to be intoxicated and was reported to be leaving in a vehicle. The individual was ar-rested and booked into the county jail. The vehicle was state im-pounded. An officer responded to Macey's on an adult female in custody for shoplifting. The of-ficer made contact with the loss prevention staff and the female. The female was issued a citation for retail theft. The officer gath ered this information and filed this report. An officer was dispatched to a call involving a theft of a violin. Upon talking to the re-porting party on the telephone, she informed the officer that her son's violin had been stolen from the junior high school. She in-formed me of the description of the violin and that it had been sto-len between March 30 and April 8, 201 1. She had no known sus-pects or any idea of who would have stolen it. An officer made contact with the complainant regarding items being stolen from his truck while he was at the doctors office in Pleasant Grove. The officer gathered the information avail-able and filed this report. On April 9 officers respond-ed on a report of an individual threatening others with a knife. One female was taken into custo-dy for aggravated assault and was later booked into the Utah County Jail. An officer tried to make con-tact with a female who had ques-tions about some drug parapher-nalia that was found. The officer was unable to reach the reporting party and a message was left. Police responded to a resi-dence in Pleasant Grove on a traf-fic accident detail. The reporting party contacted the police depart-ment to report that an individual had ran into the back of his ve-hicle that was parked on the road in front of his home. Police responded to a retail theft which resulted in two adult females being arrested for Retail Theft. On April 12 police respond-ed to a delayed report of a laptop theft from a business; On April 13 graffiti was sprayed in black paint on a vinyl fence. The graffiti appeared to say "FERZEE" or "FORZEE" and covered approximately 10 to 12 feet. The officer attempted contact with the homeowner. A TAG referral sheet was ordered. This case is active to investiga-tions. Graffiti was written on a vinyl wall with a marker. This is related to other graffiti in the area. Photos were taken and this case is active to investigations. Graffiti was painted and written on city street signs and power boxes. The graffiti is similar to other reports made the same day and included tags which appeared to say "SY", "TA", and "MTLF'. The tags are in black marker, orange crayon and black and blue spray paint. Photos were taken and this case is active to investigations. Police responded to a report of a delayed theft of a handgun from a home. The complainant is still attempting to get model information and a serial num-ber. On April 7 an officer re-sponded to Walmart on a re-port of a delayed theft. The officer made contact with As-set Protection who advised a male had taken items without paying. The officer gathered this information and will for-ward it to detectives. On April 8 a known sus-pect pawned a stolen rifle at Sportsman Pawn. The gun was listed stolen and seized by Lehi Police. This case is ac-tive for follow up. On April 9 a person re-ported that an individual came to his business and assaulted him. One male was arrested for the assault. Police responded to a re-port of a burglary of a vehicle. The vehicle had been left un-locked and a few items were taken from the vehicle. It is unsure exactly when this event happened. There are no sus-pects at this time. Two parties were caught trying to steal multiple items from the store. Upon be-ing contacted, the suspects dropped the items and fled. The reporting party was able to obtain a possible license plate on a suspect vehicle. This case will be forwarded to investigations. On April 10 an officer as-sisted the Utah County Sher-rif- f Office with a home check of a probationary. The probationary was found barricaded in the bath-room. The probationary was non compliant to the extent that the bathroom door had to be forced open. The proba-tionary showed signs of recent Opiate abuse. The probation-ary was found to be in pos-session of numerous items of Heroin related paraphernalia as well as Spice and Spice re-lated paraphernalia. The probationary was ar-rested and booked into the Utah County Jail for Posses-sion of Drug Paraphernalia in a Drug-fre- e Zone, Possession of Spice, Interfering with an Arrest or Detention, and Ob-structing Justice. On April 11 an officer spoke with a female in regards to a delayed theft of propane tanks from a home trailer. A person reported that her April Burn Window For Utah County Scheduled for Rest ofApril The Utah County Fire Marshal has announced that the Spring burn window will be April 1 through 30, which is the only burn window for the year 2011. Only natural materials such as limbs or weeds may be burned and must be 25 feet away from a structure, fence or combustible materi-als. Diesel fuel andor gaso-line may not be used to start the fire. The fire must be constantly attended and those burning must have a suffi-cient means of putting out the fire with them. If the smoke becomes an annoyance or hazard, the individual may be required to put out the fire.
