" ... . - - 1 . e : - - - " - Pleasant Grove Public Works Director Lynn Walker Walk-er told the city council last week that his crews have worked diligently to prepare pre-pare for any drainage problems prob-lems arising from any fast melting of the snow in the mountains above the city. With a large snowpack in the mountains and warm weather, there may be more water than the regular city resources can handle. Lynn said his crews have worked diligently to prepare for high runoff and plans are in place in case that scenario develops. Lynn noted that they will be well prepared in case of flooding but are hoping the weather warms up slowly, slow-ly, allowing the melting snow to come down easily and stay within the bounds. However, he said his crews are ready to go and there is nothing to panic about yet. If there is worry, they will place a lookout on the mountain at night to inform the crews if the water begins be-gins to come down too fast. Lynn added that many city residents have offered to help if they are needed. They are putting the information infor-mation about the run off and the city plans on the city web site for residents to check regularly. The director also told the council that the Grove Creek pump needs to be redone re-done and this will require an additional $53,000 from the budget to fix it. On Monday, April 18, water from Grove Creek's spillway flows into the retention basin at the mouth of the canyon. While temps have begun to rise, the snow pack has yet to begin melting. Water level flowing into the retention basin has increased, but only slightly in comparison to the flow that is yet to come down the mountain. . . Photo courtesy ot 1 impanogos limes |
