Show October 27, 2010 jTIMPANOGOS TIMES : 3 " V " ' .. ... -f Elder Sweeten to Report on Missionary Service "' ' -- ( ' - ' Elder Logan Matthew Sweeten has recently returned from serving in the Harare Zimbabwe Africa mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da-y Saints. Logan is the son of Dustin and Darlene Sweeten of Lin-do- n. He will speak on Sunday, October 31 , in the Lindon 18th Ward at 9 a.m., 1030 West 1600 North in Orem and also in the Lindon 22nd Ward at 1 p.m., 500 North State Street in Lindon. Private First Class Jus-tin Christopher Hillock, age 23, passed away October 20, 2010 in Cedar Hills, Utah. Justin was born on April 1, 1987 in Provo, Utah, to Jeff and Kathy Hall Hillock. Justin received his diplo-ma in 2006. After receiving his diploma, Justin worked for his father in his electrical business. During that time, Justin joined the Utah Na-tional Guard in late 2008. He graduated from AIT in 2009. He was in the Delta Company First Battalion 211 Aviation specializing in Apache Heli-copter repair. Justin was so proud to be serving our coun-try and was waiting for his papers to deploy to Afghani-stan next year. Justin was baptized into ; the LDS Church in 2008. He loved doing many things with his family and friends. He enjoyed going to the NAS- - CAR races, helping get his dad get the race car ready to go racing, motorcycles and anything fast paced. He also loved camping, boating and just hanging out. Justin was one of the most giving and selfless peo-ple. He was always there to help out any family or friends when they called. He helped all his grandparents during their time of need. Justin al-ways had a smile on his face and always spoke kind words to everyone. If you met Jus-tin, you were a friend for- - PFC Justin Christopher Hillock. ever. Whenever it was time to leave, Justin always made sure he hugged everyone good-by- e and said "I love you". . Justin is survived by his parents, Jeff and Kathy Hill-ock, sister, Melanie Hillock, nephew, Collin Jesse James Anderson, niece, Bentlee Jocelyn Hillock Petro, grandfather, Dan Hall and grandfather, Joseph Hillock. He was preceded in death . by his grandmother, Delo-re- s Hall and grammy, Mary Hillock. Funeral services were held Monday, October 25, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Ma-nila Eighth Ward Church located at 3785 West Box Elder Drive, in Cedar Hills, Utah. A viewing was held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial was at the Ever-green Cemetery located off Highway 89 at 1997 South 400 East in Springville, Utah. Wayne Golden Peay August 17, 1930 - October 19, 2010 . il si '!' After recently celebrat-ing his 80th birthday and 60th wedding anniversary with his eternal sweetheart, Wayne Golden Peay, of Lindon passed away unexpectedly on October 19 after an accidental fall. Wayne was born August 17, 1930 in Pleasant Grove to Golden Beal and Estella John-son Peay. He lived in Pleasant Grove and Lindon his entire life. He married his eternal sweetheart, Geraldine Adam-so- n on September 27, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. Wayne served in the U.S. Army during the Korean con-flict. After returning home, he worked for Utah Power & Light and retired after 38 years of service. Wayne and Geri served several missions for the LDS Church in Winter Quarters, Cove Fort, and nine years at the Bishops Store-house. He was a faithful and devoted member of the LDS Church, serving in many stake and ward callings throughout his life. One of his greatest joys was traveling with the Good Sam's Club where he made many life-lon- g devoted friends. Wayne loved the gos-pel, his family and friends. He always had time to serve a friend or talk with a strang-er who then became a new friend. He loved to ride horses in American Fork Canyon, where he spent many years working for his grandfather when he was young. His greatest love and joy was his ; family including his 3 chil-- ', dren, 10 grandchildren and 9 Wayne Golden Peay. greatgrandchildren. Each one ' had a personal relationship ' with him. He taught them correct principles and lived by them. He was always an example of love, faith, com-mitment and service and his life radiated the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is survived by his eternal sweetheart Geral-dine; his three children: Cheri Hansen, Lindon; Con-nie (Mike) Marchbanks, Lindon; and Kevin (Cindy) Peay, Centerville. He will especially be missed by his grandchildren and his great grandchildren who he adored. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 23, at 1 p.m. in the Lindon Fifth Ward L.D.S. chapel, 610 W. 100 S., in Lindon. Friends called on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ol-pi- n Family Mortuary, 494 S. 300 E., Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday ' one hour prior to services. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove City Cem- - .. ...... etery. Bicycle Rodeo Includes Handyman Activity Webelos Scouts from Packs 635 and 1199 participated in a Handyman activity in which they lubed the bikes, checked tires and other repairs with the help of some attending adults. Then they all participated in a Bicycle Rodeo which in cluded five races: barrell race, bottle bending (like pole bending), coast race, snail and newspaper races. Trunk or Treat Event Sponsored by Local Groups and Businesses ui V -- V A This is the week for Hal-loween fun as Pleasant Grove businesses will be providing a safe and fun place to trick-or-tre- at on Saturday, Octo-ber 30, 2010. This event will be held at the Pleasant Grove City Downtown Park at 200 South Main Street from 3 until 5 p.m., where it has been lo-cated for several years now. All the children in the community are invited to participate in this free ac-tivity. Those business and others participating are wel-come to distribute treats, samples, flyers, etc. and are encouraged to dress in cos-tumes. Businesses will be assigned a designated loca-tion to set up their tables andor booths in the park. Event organizers expect there to be between 2,000 and 2,500 children attending the event this year. The event is sponsored by the I.O.O.F. Oddfellows and Rebekahs in participa-tion with the Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce and Pleasant Grove City. Local city businesses, local contributors, the Pleas-ant Grove City Council, Pleasant Grove Police and will enjoy a great time in a safe environment during the Downtown Trunk-or-Tre- event. Fire Departments also con-tribute to the event. Libby is the daughter of Dan and Kim Lawyer of Pleas-ant Grove. All sixth graders through-out Pleasant Grove were invited to enter. There were 120 entries in all.
