Oak Junior High School Aida Performance Moves Audience by Lexee Tabbutt and Aubrielle liockhill Drama students, directed by Katrina Scott, presented the musical, Aida, November 1 1 through 13 at 7 p.m at Oak Canyon Junior High. The show was great success. "I felt sad, happy, passionate, a rainbow of emotions! It made mc want to do something!" stated freshman Anna Thulin. The play starred Tessa Norman as Aida, Bratlen Cunningham as Radames, and Mandy White as Amneris. The audience was awed by the actors' talent and dedication. "Oh my gosh! So much dedication! You have to put heart and focus into it. Its time consuming but if your doing what you love, it's worth ' it," remarked freshman Tessa Norman. "Aida", described as a "Timeless Love Story", is about the war between Egypt and Nubia. Aida, the Nubian princess is captured by the Egyptians. Amneris, female Pharaoh and Radames, the captain of the Egyptian Army, are arranged to be married. Aida and Radames fall in love and struggle to be together. Students in the performance practiced five days a week until five o'clock in order to make the show as wonderful as it was. Calce Gardner said. ''Everyday after school you needed to practice and dedicate and gain an understanding about die play." |
