'" (Times photo) First Yellovcake Comes Off Stream at Rio Algom This Week Rio Algom Corporation was set to begin production of the first yellowcake at their new Lisbon Valley mill on Wednesday. M. D. Lawton, general manager of the facility, fac-ility, indicated this week that barring any unexpected delays, the first actual production pro-duction would begin. Mr. Lawton stated that ora had been being put through the mill since late April and i-. .. on some days the mil! bad actually reached its capacity cap-acity of 500 tens per day on all phases except the actual ' production of yellowcake. After several days of heating heat-ing the dryer to its working temperature, it was expected that the facility would begin to produce barrels of the U-3C8 U-3C8 concentrate on a regular basis. It is not known at this time how long it will take before capacity production is the order of the day, however, howev-er, few problems are antici. pated. Deliveries of some 4.9 million mil-lion pounds of uranium oxida in concentrate are scheduled to be delivered to Duke Power Pow-er Company of Charlotte, North Carolina over the next seven years. The Duke Power Company ranks among the largest investor in-vestor owned electric power utilities in the United States and has indicated that it plans to produce nearly 5 million kilowatts capacity from its units in the United States. coming yellowcake to be used in the production pro-duction of electric power by Duke Power Company, Charlotte, N.
