Show The Powder Pult Bowl game last weok, staged to raise money for little league football, was not only a lot of fun, It was a real money maker, with the gals taking In over $500. Grid Game Big Success i tie nrst annual Powder Puff bowl held at the High School Football field last Saturday was a roaring success; suc-cess; with the Olive Oyls tromping the Little Orpan Annies a broad 28 to 14. The bleachers were filled with fans who donated a total of $500 to buy safe regulation uniforms for the liight Grade-tea Grade-tea ms. The mood on the sidelines was comedy and satyr, while on the field the gals played serious football. The Little Orpan Annies kicked off and soon after Melody Leonard scored the first T.D. for the Olive Oyls. The action picked up and Gladys Wells scored the second TD for the Olive Oyls. They picked up a 2 pt. conversion and settled fur a 14 0 lead. Between serious action on the field, the Cheerleaders (men dressed as lady Cheerleaders) Cheer-leaders) kept the fans in stitches. Into the 2nd quarter. Sue Kyle scored the first touch down for the Little Orpan Annies. After Half Time the Olive Oyls still lead w ith a 14-6 margin. Another TD late in the 3rd quarter gave the Olive Oyls a busty 20 to 6 lead. In the 4th quarter Pundy Wyatt recicved a pass wide and scored another Oliver Oyl touch down. With 2 and a half minutes to play the Orpan Annies struggled strug-gled at the 20 yard line and scored their second TD and a two pt. conversion. There was less than 60 seconds left to play, the score 28-14, Olive Oyls, when sirens wailed and a policeman along with the Deputy Sheriff screamed down the field, handcuffed the referees and to the cheers of the fans hauled them physically off the field -of course, ending the game. All-in-all it was a terrific game. Except when the referee was tackled, or the field looked as if it might have been a Hockey game rather than football, the quality of play was serious and well done. |
