Show i Interest in Parks Continuing Here ' With the fall setting in and the days remaining quite warm, the recreation activity in the area still seems to remain high. Newspaper Rock was the site of some activity during the month as Keith Merril of Keith Merril and Associates was filming there one day during the month. He is producing a movie probably to be called "The Great American Indian", Ind-ian", which is a sequel to his Oscar winning production "The Great American Cowboy". Cow-boy". The scenes filmed at the mounument inlcude a visit between the Indian star and Dr. Paul Chestman of the BYU as they talk about the possible meanings of archaic rock art especially Newspaper Rock. The Goosenecks, during the past month experienced heavy visitation, although somewhat less than last year as 1320 persons visited the Reserve, which is a 28 decrease over last years records for the month. However, the total visitation is still 34 per cent over 1974 figures. An interpretive interpre-tive plaque has been received to be mounted on the observation point. It will be incorporated into a wall of natural rock which will be constructed around the view point. This rock work has been released on bid announcement and we hope to have it completed sometime this fall.
