Show City Court news . . . In City Court on May 26 a jury trial was held in the case of City vs. James E. Wells, who was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor. After presentation of the evidence the jury returned re-turned a verdict of guilty. Wells was sentenced to pay a $250 fine and serve 40 days in the county jail. He was placed on one year probation, and the jail sentence was suspended on payment of the fine and satisfactory completion of the probation, which was transferred to Price. On the same day, Marvin Marv-in Holloway was arraigned on a charge of shoplifting. He entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced to pay a $100 fine and serve 30 days in the county jail. He was placed on one year probation and the jail sentence was suspended i on payment of the fine and satisfactory completion of probation. On May 31 Johnny L. Petree appeared on char- j ges of illegal consumption i of alcohol and destruction : of property. He entered j pleas of guilty to both j charges and was sentenc- ' ed to pay a $50 fine on the I first charge, and serve 30 days in jail. He was placed on 6 months probation and on payment of the fine and satisfactory completion of j probation, the jail sen- i tence was suspended. He was ordered to make resti tution to the City of Moab i on the destruction of prop- ! erty charge. On May 30 there was a preliminary hearing in the case of State vs. Tommy and Carla D. Knuckles, who were charged with theft. Their attorney, Penny Pen-ny Coffman, moved to dismiss charges on the grounds of insufficient evidence. ev-idence.
