Show "Bridgessolar installation ivork bids being sought 1 1 The National Park Service 1 1 announced Tuesday that the bid i 1 opening date for the construction of ! a battery storage building, and site ' 1 foundation for a solar photovoltaic Power System at Natural Bridges 1 1 National Monument has been ! 1 rescheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sept. 20, 1978. Bids will be opened in the 1 1 office of the Superintendent, Canyonlands National Park, Moab Utah. The principal features to be constructed by the NPS include i some items as a battery building ' approximately 1400 square feet; 1 1 clearing and grubbing 1.8 acres; 1 1 imported barrow 1,550 cubic yards; 1 1 excavation embankment 10,000 square yards; a small road section; i extension of existing water and I sewer systems including such items ! as 130 feet 6-inch cast iron sewer pipe; 840 feet 2-inch galvanized I I steel water pipe; 370 feet '4-inch 1 1 galvanized water pipe; revision of the existing gas system; electrical work for the battery building and 1200 feet of vinyl-dad chain link fence with gate. The successful bidder will construct this portion of the work ii preparation for the actual install tion of the solar system. The Lincoln Laboratory of the Massa chusetts Institute of Technology will install the solar units equip ment. The foundation system is sche duled to be complete in May 197! and the solar unit is scheduled to b complete in October or Novembe 1979. Soil materials for the project havi been investigated and most an available near the monument Plans and specifications and so: sample report are available in th office of the Superintendent Canyonlands National Park, Moab Utah. Site inspections may be mad with the Unit Manager, Natun Bridges National Monument. |
