Show Witnesses Propose Mining Snjunction - Witnesses for the federal feder-al government testifed in favor of continuing an injunction in-junction against placer mining within new boundaries boun-daries of Arches National Monument above Moab at a hearing April 20 in Salt Lake City. Judge- A. Sherman Chris-tensen Chris-tensen of the Federal District Dis-trict Court signed a temporary tem-porary injunction in January, Janu-ary, 1970 prohibiting three defendants from mining, blasting or road construction construc-tion within the monument, L. K. Louma, hearing? examinen for the U. S. Department of Interior, conducted the Aprl 20 hearing. Evidence lin favor of the placer operation is to be presented before Louma June 8. Arthur F. Michalicek, Salt Lake City, geologist, and John Wells, Sacramento, Sacramen-to, Caljif., placer minilng expert, questioned validity of the mining claims and Ron L. Cotten, Santa Fe, N.M., regional engineer, National Park Service, testified tes-tified as to cost of a . service ser-vice road to reach the claims.
