Show Hearings Set in Washington On National Park Bills Washington, D. C. Representative Gunn McKay Mc-Kay (D-Utah) announced today that hearings in three Utah national park bills now before Congress will be held in Washington on June 14th and 15th. The hearings will be held before the House Interior In-terior Committee's subcommittee sub-committee on National Parks and Recreation under un-der the chairmanship of Representative Roy A. Taylor Tay-lor of North Carolina and will deal with two measures measur-es to create new national parks in Utah and another anoth-er to change the boundaries boundar-ies of an existing park. Testimony will be heard on proposed legislation to create Arches and Capiiol Reef National Parks, and on a bill to expand and change the boundaries of iCanyonlands National1 Park. Representatives McKay and Sherm Lloyd of Utah co-sponsored the bills to create Arches National Park and to change the Canyonland boundaries while Mr. McKay is the author au-thor of the Capitol Reef National Park measure in the House. Persons interested in testifying at the hearings should prepare at least 80 cop es of their testimony in advance and submit it to the office of Representative Representa-tive M.-Kay or sub-com-m'ttee chairman, Representative Represen-tative Taylor of North Carolina. Car-olina. A measure to establish Glen Canyon National Recreation Rec-reation Area will be considered con-sidered at a public hearing later in the year, according to Mr. McKay. All four bills have been introduced in the Senate by Utah Utah Senator Frank E. Moss. The four passed tne. Senate last year but died in the House. |
