Show GUEST EDITORIAL vAw graduation means to me ! I must say I will be glad to break away from those who attend school without any desire to learn or take advantage of their daily experiences. All they are able to do is complain and cause trouble for those concerned ! with expanding their educational interests. In my op- i inion, these people won't amount to much until they grow up and stop looking for faults in everything. Everyone Every-one has his share of problems, but the world would be in an even greater mess if we all tried to solve them bv getting high on drugs and alcohol. Running away never solved anything. But don't be convinced that I degrade my fellow classmates. There arc a number of them I have high esteem for. I find it easier to relate to the more serious ones of the class. You can be fairly sure they will be successful in anything they choose to attempt. The probable pro-bable reason for this is because they don't take refuge in the too familiar attitude of, "I don't care." Commencement is the real beginning of my life. The previous years' spent in school are preparation to enable en-able me to build my life. These years may be compared 1 to bricks. It is up to me to manufacture these bricks through my time at school. Then I have to arrange them to establish my life in the way I think best. The success or failure of this task is entirely to my credit. I am looking upon this occasion with apprehension. The reason I feel a small amount of sorrow is my friends. I know there are quite a few I will miss, but they have their own lives to lead, just as I have mine. I have to prove myself to me. No one else. I've never needed to use my wings before, and now I have to make it on my own. If I reach my goal, all the years in school will have been worth it. If I fail, I'll have to start over or settle for second best. Success is not measured by wealth. One can work day in and day out on a high paying job, but if he is not happy, has he reached his goal? Can he be considered con-sidered a success? In my opinion, he cannot. To be a success, one has to be content and at peace with him- ; self and his work. When a person reaches his goal, he j can't help but radiate happiness. I Member, GCHS Class of 1971' ; Charlotte Bclford I . |
