Show Moab Area Dev. Seeking Uevi fAembers Members of Moab Area Development Corporation Cor-poration will meet Thursday to begin a community com-munity canvass for new membership: The corporation cor-poration decided last week to invest in a physical phy-sical plant which would be leased in the near future to a sewing firm which hopes to employ-in employ-in excess of one hundred hund-red local residents within with-in the next year. Officials of the sewing firm have been in Moab the past w eek working out final arrangements for the plant, and looking at possible locations. It appears ap-pears at present, that a suitable location for the new building has been found, and work can proceed pro-ceed as soon as financial finan-cial arrangements have been completed. The plan involoves the investment of certain money by Moab Area Development De-velopment Corp., and the sewing firm officials. This money would be supplemented by funds from First Western National Na-tional Bank and the Small Business Adiministra-tion. Adiministra-tion. for the construction construc-tion of a 100.000 sq. ft. building and equipment equip-ment needed for the sew-ing sew-ing operation. Moab Area Development Develop-ment has around twenty-five twenty-five members now, and hopes to increase that membership by at least an equal number of investors in-vestors prior to completing com-pleting the financial package. The sew ing plant would do custom sewing for a California-based manufacturing manu-facturing firm on a contract con-tract basis. An employment survey conducted in Moab earlier earl-ier this year concluded that a labor force of in excess of one hundred was available. That prompted the involvement involve-ment of Moab Area Development De-velopment to work out a financial arrangement for the construction of the plant. |
