Show Mission Doctor Visits, Works In Moab Area Dr. Dan Ekkens, medical director of the Monument Valley Mission Hospital of the Seventh-day Adventists, was in Moab a few days last week giving assistance to the patients of Dr.. Jay P. Munsey who was away. Dr. Ekkens spoke Saturday Satur-day morning to members of the local Seventh-day Adven-tist Adven-tist Church reporting on the progress of the Monument Valley Mission "The Monument Valley Mission is the only mission hospital in operation on tha Navajo Reservation," stated Dr. Ekkens. He also said that the project pro-ject is an expensive operation, opera-tion, having a budget of one-quarter one-quarter million dollars, half of which is supported by the Pacific Union Conference of .Sevenith-day Adventists. Dr. Ekkens commended the public of Moab who annually annual-ly make funds available ta make it possible to service the medical needs of the reservation people. He also commended Moab residents for their conflributions of clothing and canned goods used in supplying the needs of the Indians. Dr. Ekkens reported that several improvements to the Monument Valley facility are in progress including a Community Services Building Build-ing which will house the welfare wel-fare program conducted by the church in behalf of the Indians there. Dr. Ekkens delivered th Saturday morning sermon at the local church on the theme of "What are we going go-ing to do with Christ?" |
