Rampton sign proclamation designating Sept. 20-26 as National Highway Week in Utah. Governor Declares Mat'l Highway Week in Utah At a special ceremony on Tuesday, September 1, Governor Calvin L. Rampton Ramp-ton declared the , week of September 20 through September Sep-tember 26 as National Highway week in Utah. In signing the declaration the Governor pointed out that National Highway Week will include many activities activi-ties on the- part" of highway high-way oriented individuals throughout the state. Among Am-ong these activities is the dedication ceremony on a new section of U. S. Highway High-way 40 across Starvation jReservoir. The ceremony . will be at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Mon-day, September 21, 1970 at the new rest area located just east of Starvation bridge. A special Forest Highway High-way Tour will also be conducted con-ducted jointly by the Utah State Department of Highways, High-ways, the U. S. Forest Service and the Federal Highway Administration. In the Governor's declaration decla-ration he cited adequate highway transportation facilities fa-cilities as being essential to the economic, social, and cultural well being of the . (citizens of the State cf Utah. The Governor also pointed out that Utah motorists mo-torists support highways through their state and federal highway user taxes, tax-es, and he hopes that they would etake advantage of the opportunities to become be-come better informed of the progress and planning for highway development. |
