Show l Relief Society Spring Social Held Here on April 19th Saturday. April l'Mh, was the scene of a lovely Spring Social held tit the Moab U)S Chapel. It was sponsored by the Moab. Utah Stake Relief Society. 'lliis tlay climaxed a two month long Poetry Contest among the members of this organization, with five Wards and two Branches parlicipat-ing. parlicipat-ing. This was a cultural fete that portrayed the skill, writing ability and musical talents of many IDS and non IDS women alike. The three able judges, Obid I l.iinbliii, Gary (iuymon and Ernest Cline selected 12 poems out of KM) eiilranls us the winners of the contest and they were as follows: I averna Zohncr, Gloria Wcstovcr, 1 lael Thompson, Deborah G. Spadalora, Patricia Patri-cia Ouanherg, Shirley Stewart, LaDcan Black. Merlyn Maxwell, Max-well, Virginia Noyes, Kiera Newbury, Lynda Gold, VcLoye Del lie. Honorable Mention: Diane Redd, Gladys Nicol, Mary JaneCocns. Judges Choices: Linda L. Peterson, I.cAnna Wareham, Shirley Hansen. 1 he Stake Board Members read the winners poems and in turn placed a gold and blue ribbon around the neck nl each winner on which hung a beaiililul medal dial ilr picled her award. 'I lie 2nd Waul Relief Society Chorus sang two musical numbers enlilled, "My Own America" and "Grandmothers Apion." Slianna and Debbie "Ihane from the 4lh Ward presented a duet number. Helen Tranter, Dorothy Slaugh and Carolyn Burton sang "As I Go On My Way" accompanied by Ralph Slaugh on his violin and Hctte Molgard on the piano. Light refreshments were served from beaiililul tables decotaled with the blossoms of Spring. Ibis lovely event will be long remembered by everyone present and by those who made il possible. |
