Show County RevievsGaining Of New Commissioner The Grand County Commission Commis-sion met in regular session Monday, with the most pressing pres-sing order of business the replacement of Commissioner Hub Newell, who died April 30. The Utah Code, 17-5-4, states that the central committee commit-tee of the political party to which member of the vacated office belonged must, within 30 days of the date the office is vacated, present to the remaining re-maining commissioners a list of at least 6 names from w hich to appoint the new commissioner. commis-sioner. The Grand County Repub- lican Central Committee has scheduled a meeting for May 14 to compile the list of names, and will present hm to the commission for choice at or prior to the next regular meeting May 19. Members of the Republican Central Committee are Harvey Merrill, chairman; Mary Bvrd, vice chairman; Mary Taylor, secretary; Yvonne Hawks, treasurer; Bob Hawks, Mary Williams, Rod Phillips, Dick Hammer, Linda Boulden, Pete Byrd, Hallie Tibbetts. A. C. Caouette, Anita Raymond, Al Lange, Betty Jeffries, Gene Dunham, Jan Howland, and Helen Davis. In other business, the commission set May 19 as the date to name 6 members to the Community Action Program board. This group will then select 3 additional members. |
