Show Despite Rains, Fire Danger Still High Several rainstorms occurring oc-curring this past week have had little effect on the fire danger on the LaSal Mountains, Moun-tains, according to a report Tuesday from Forester Jerry Hofer. Pack Creek Ranch, the official Forest Service fire weather reporting station, had only a trace of moisture mois-ture from the storms. Consequently, Con-sequently, the fire closure order on the LaSals is still in effect, Hofer said. This fire closure permits firei only in grills at designated campgrounds such as Warner, War-ner, Buckeye, Pack Creek and Oowah. No open fires may be buDt elsewhere on National Forest lands on the LaSals. Campers should also be careful with gas stoves, and refrain trom using them in areas of heavy vegetation. There have been some reports of camp-iires camp-iires in the Medicine Lake area and these are illegal. The LaSais will be pa-tTolied, pa-tTolied, Hofer said, and Violators of the fire closure order will be ticketed and prosecuted. Last weekend, the Moxo-ticello Moxo-ticello area picked up a number of lightning fires, and one fire was discovered discover-ed on the LaSals. Peop.e are asked to cooperaie with the closure order and to report all fires to the Moab Ranger District of the Forest Service, or to the Sheriffs office. |
