Show Schools Approve Bids On Local Projects Ed's Plumbing Shop of Moa-b was apparent low bidder on two projects for Grand County School District, Dis-trict, at a bid opening meeting held Monday evening. even-ing. The firm submitted a low bid of $9,501 for installation installa-tion of refrigerated air conditioning con-ditioning in Star Hall on East Center Street. This was under the budget estimate est-imate of $10,000 listed by the Board. The other bid was for conversion of coal burning heating facilities at Helen M. Knight Elementary Element-ary School to natural gas. Ed's Plumbing bid that job at $7,744, again under the budget estimate of $9,000 set by the Board. Security bonds and insurance insur-ance appeared to be in order, or-der, and the bids were accepted ac-cepted by vote of the School Board. Assistant Superintendent Superin-tendent was instructed to contact the firm this week to ascertain how quickly equipment could be ordered in and the work completed. If delivery can be depended depend-ed on in the near future, it is hoped that the air conditioning job can be con.pleted in time for a portion por-tion of the fall term at school. In other business, the Board met with architect Jack Ehlers of Salt Lake City relative to changes in: the plans for the projected. New Horizons building to be built this fall in Moat-Since Moat-Since the changes recommended recom-mended by the State Department Dep-artment of Education were considerably different than designs already tentatively approved by the Board, Assistant As-sistant Superintendent Mea-dor Mea-dor was instructed to travel tra-vel to Salt Lake City later lat-er this week to meet with the State Department of Education in an attempt to work out the differences. Tt is hoped now that bids on the project can be opened open-ed on August 23. Board President Sam Taylor explained to the Board that the recently passed District Budget would have to be cut quite severely as a result in an unexpected drop in assessed assess-ed valuation of some $3 million. The drop in income for the school district will be somewhere near $34,000 in maintenance and operation opera-tion and $36 thousand in capitol outlay as a result of the new valuation figures, fig-ures, he stated. The president presi-dent asked the Board members mem-bers to be thinking in terms of specific action that might be taken at the regularly scheduled meeting on August 9th. |
