Show Uranium Buying For Year 1968 Released by AHC SALT LAKE CITY - The Atomic Energy Commission purchased 1.3 million pounds of U-3-0-8 in uranium concentrate con-centrate at a cost of $10, 582,000 from Utah mills during dur-ing 1968. Sen. Wallace F. Bennett, R-Utah announced today. Sen. Bennett is a member of the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy. The Utahn reported the Commission through its Grand Junction, Colorado, office purchased nationally 14,675,000 pounds of U-3-0-8' in uranium concentrate from ore processing mills during the 1968 calendar year, at a cost of $117,026,000. Other leading uranium ore producing states include New Mexico, Wyoming, and Colorado. In addition to sales to the AEC, during 1968 the domestic do-mestic uranium mills sold commercially in excess of 10,000,000 pounds of U-3-0-8 for use as fuel in nuclear plants. |
