Show Moab Girds for Onslaught of Rough ' Country Vehicles for Annua! Safer! Jeeps, jeeps and more jeeps. Moab will be overflowing with rough country vehicles in ten more days during its annual Jeop Safari Days. The event is scheduled fror Saturday, Sat-urday, April 5th( and several sev-eral hundred jeep enthusiasts from western states are expected ex-pected to take advantage of Moab's early spring and multitude mul-titude of jeep trails. The Boy Scouts are holding hold-ing a huge beef barbecue on Friday night April 4, cater-. cater-. ing not only to the jeep enthusiasts, en-thusiasts, but to the general public as well. Preparations are being made to feed 1,500 to 2,000 persons. 1000 pounds of beef has been donated by Charles Redd for the occasion. occas-ion. The Boy Scout organization organiza-tion is also planning exhibits exhib-its and demonstrations. Of these are . Indian dancing to bo performed by the Order of the Arrow, the group of honor Scouts that has received re-ceived excellent commendation commenda-tion for their previous performances per-formances upstate. . The Rockrunners, the Explorer Ex-plorer Scout local rescue organization, or-ganization, will also be dem onstrating their techniques on stieer cliffs above Lions River Park by floodlight. They have a clowning act on the ropes planned as well as a simulated rescue of an injured in-jured climber. The rescue unit has participated in the past two years in several rescues. The actual Jeep Safari will get underway- Saturd?y morning at Lions River Park two miles north of Moab. A breakfast is on the agenda and there will be a small fee charged to help cover expenses. After the. breakfast the groups will be organized according ac-cording to 1heir preferred routes. The three routes have been chosen which include the Moab Him, the Behind the Rocks area, and the trail through the new additions ad-ditions of Arches National Monument. |
