All the local lakes were stocked and some had been restocked twice. Although fishing was good, fishing pressure was not as high i as expected. The Division of Wildlife Resources fish stocking program is geared to provide the general public with fairly good fishing throughout the peak summer sum-mer months. A quota ' number of fish are allotted each lake for the year. Under this type of system a lake that is abused by anglers catching in excess of possession limits (same limit as the daily limit) can provide poor fishing for anglers later in the season. sea-son. Locally we have excellent opportunities oppor-tunities to hunt a variety of big game. In the future with the cooperation of BLM and USFS personnel we hope to see the LaSal Mountains Moun-tains receiving transplants of both Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Moun-tain Goats. This type of transplant requires a large time frame to complete all the necessary details but the initial decision to , attempt the relocation has been made. |
