The attractive D-esert Lodge and Desert Inn complex com-plex on South Main in Moab will ba- operated beginning begin-ning August 1 by nationwide ttamada Inns Corp., Phoenix, now negotiating for the purchase of the 80-unit complex from builder and owner Sam Sears and Associates. Inns Buying ftoe!-Besicsu&WBi ftoe!-Besicsu&WBi Complex in ilfliob Moab's largest motel complex, com-plex, the Desert Lodge and Desert Inn, will be sold to nationwide Ramada Inns, if present plans for the ownership owner-ship transfer are completed as contemplated. This was announced an-nounced this week by a Ramada Ra-mada Inns official from Phoenix, Arizona, who stated that his organization would take over management Thursday Thurs-day of this week, aiming for final signing of sales contracts con-tracts shortly after September 1st, when Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sears, owners and builders of the Desert, return from a trip that is currently taking them to the Far East. Ramada, with over two hun-' dred motels in cities all across the country, is presently operating op-erating two motels in Utah the mammoth Salt Lake City Ramada Inn, and one irr Utah's second largest city, Ogden. They also operate a motel on the new freeway just out of Grand Junction. Sam Sears and Associates constructed the Desert in 1962, with 51 units being completed com-pleted that year. During the past year, an additional 29 units have been constructed and the motel complex is operating op-erating 80 full units. Also involved in-volved in the complex is the, Desert Inn Restaurant, which is under operating lease to Mr. and Mrs. Bob Evans of Moab. According to Jim MeU,' Ramada auditor from Phoenix who is in Moab this week, Mr. and Mrs. Evans will continue con-tinue to operate the restaurant restaur-ant as they have in the past. Likewise, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Severns of Moab will continue as managers of the motel, and no staff changes are con- templated at present, Mr. Metz stated. Mr. Metz stated that at the present time, there was no information available on Ramada's future plans for the motel complex. He was all--vised from Phoenix Tuesday that around . September 10, the corporation would disclose full details of their plans in Moab following the signing of final papers with the present owners of the large motel-restaurant. motel-restaurant.
