Show IN UTAH DURING 1931 the estimated value of crops in utah last year was or 75 per cent of the value in 1930 the annual summary of frank andrews federal crop statistician for utah shows the decrease Is attributed to the long dry spell and low prices not only was acreage reduced by the lack of moisture the report shows but there was a decrease in production from the acres planted the drouth was somewhat overcome by favorable weather during october which lengthened the growing season and benefited such crops as onions sugar beets and potatoes the largest value was placed on the hay crop compared with last year the grain crops were valued at against last year the sugar beet crop made the best showing with a value of with in 1930 the report says the total may be increased by premiums which may be paid to the growers later I 1 potatoes were valued at compared with a 1930 crop of 1296 the 1931 values of some of the other large crops with 1930 figures in parentheses are given by the report as follows apples peaches alfalfa seed cherries celery onions peas for canning strawberries tomatoes for canning mr andrews explained that the estimate does not include livestock products poultry dairy products or wool |
