Show better sportsmanship campaign Is initiated in grand division at a recent meeting of coaches of the four high schools in grand division of region five a better sportsmanship campaign was initiated heretofore at contests there has been too much ratzing razzing raz zing of officials and players to the detriment of high school athletic competition it is hoped that the student bodies and townspeople of the division will in the future observe the following code of good sportsmanship which the coaches have adopted A TRUE SPORTSMAN 1 will consider all athletic opponents as guests and treat them with all of the courtesy due friends and guests 2 will accept all decisions of officials without question 3 will never hisa or boo a player or official 4 will never utter abusive or irritating remarks from the side line 5 will applaud opponents who make good plays or show good sportsmanship 6 will never attempt to rattle an opposing player such as the pitcher in a baseball game or a player attempting to make a free throw in a basketball game 7 will seek to win by fair and lawful means according to the rules of the game 8 will love the game for its own sake and not for what winning may bang him 9 will do unto others as he would have them do unto him f 10 will win without boasting and lose without excuses taken from code adopted by university of illinois students during better sportsmanship campaign of the big ten conference |
