Show TAX REFORM SENATOR KNOX PATTERSO OF MOAB CHOSEN ON ADVISORY BOARD OF legislators first steps toward making an ex 1 austave study of the states needs for tax reform were aken by greald iny officers of th legislature late friday with the appointment 61 senators and who will sit with the tax revision commission this organization Is set up under terms of the hyan bill which creates a tax revision commission of three members to be appointed by governor george H dem this bill was signed by gov dem late friday and the commission set up under terms of ahls act will be appointed within the nert ne rt few weeks gor pern indicated saturday under the act president hamilton gardner of the state senate was called on to name two republican and two democratic senators from the upper branch of the legislative assembly and speaker david L stane was called on to name four republicans and three democrats from the membership of the house senators W D candland of san pete and george H ryan of juab represent the republican majority of the senate with senators knox patterson of grand and walson mccarthy of salt lake representing the democratic minority the republican majority of the house will be represented by david hirschl of washington S M joreensen of devler jmes B auson of wasatch and L J holther of weber while the democratic minority will have representation n george A critchlow of salt lake A R creer of utah and austin P of salt bakr the first meeting of these advisors was held at the hotel utah saturday evening at 6 p m for the purpose of effecting an organization and laying a course the law prescribes that this com r attee shall act as advisors of the tax revision commission to be appointed by the governor it sets up an appropriation of to be used n paying the salaries of the commissioners amounting to each per annum and also to pay incidental expenses the legislators are to serve without compensation other than ac ual expenses incurred gov dern declared saturday that he had not as yet determined who would be appointed on this board and indicated that the appointments would probably not be made for two weeks at beust |
